Group Exercise Instructor
GROUP EXERCISE INSTRUCTOR
SUMMARY OF POSITION: Educate, motivate, and monitor class participants through safe and effective workout routines, such as Zumba, Group Cycle, Yoga, Body Pump, and more.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPR/AED certification required.
- Current certification in one or more nationally recognized group exercise certification programs (AFAA, ACE, NASM and/or specialty certifications)
- Excellent customer service/member engagement skills
- Communication and problem solving skills required.
- Social media proficiency preferred.
- Audition required prior to hire
- Student Instructors are required to participate in a 6-week GEM program prior to hire
EXPECTED HOURS: Instructors must be available to work early morning and late evening shifts, as well as weekends and holidays. Instructors are expected to provide a minimum of at least 10 hours of available time, including at least 1 hour of availability on Saturdays and/or Sundays. *Recreation facilities are open year-round, with additional opportunities to work during J-Term, Spring Break, and summer.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and promote safe and effective group exercise classes following respective certification guidelines and program practices.
- Provide a welcoming, inclusive environment in all classes
- Maintain member check in/participation data collection system.
- Promote individual classes and support program and department as a whole.
- Maintain studio/equipment as instructed. Model proper use and care of all equipment/campus rec property.
- Alert supervisor of studio/equipment damage. Record studio/equipment upkeep needs as instructed.
- Keep up to date with current industry trends.
- Assist with other Campus Rec Events as needed.
CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAININGS: Much of the training for this position is offered on the job and is conducted by full-time Pro Staff and Student Leaders. In addition to the initial on-boarding provided to all employees, Wellness Staff are expected to:
- Attend department-wide and program/facility specific ongoing trainings/workshops, that are offered throughout the time of employment
- Maintain current CPR/AED certification
- Maintain current Group Exercise Certification
