Summary of Position: Personal Trainers prescribe workouts and provide support to help their clients achieve their fitness goals.

Qualifications: We strive to employ students that are team players with exceptional customer service skills to help our department create a welcoming, inclusive environment for the campus community’s health and well-being. Personal Trainers must already hold a nationally accredited certification before applying to work with Campus Recreation. 

Expected Hours: Personal Trainers must be able to work 6 or more hours per week. Hours are not guaranteed and will fluctuate dependent upon client registrations. Clients are assigned to trainers by the program administrator. Students are not able to work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year. Personal Training is offered year-round and can be conducted during the facilities’ operational hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:
·        Hold current certification by a nationally accredited personal trainer certification program and CPR/AED for duration of employment
·        Uphold department’s policies and procedures
·        Work one-on-one with clients to meet their goals 
·        Work in Buddy and Group training setting to meet the collective goal
·        Assist and lead Club Sports team training sessions and other custom workouts for special groups
·        Plan programs and workouts 
·        Perform fitness assessments
·        Participate, organize, and lead fitness challenges, events, and incentive programs 
·        Keeps client files updated
·        Attend all trainings and meetings
·        Routine maintenance and safety checks of equipment
·        CPR/AED certification required
·        Report directly to assigned Supervisor

Certifications and Trainings: Personal Trainers are required to attend trainings and to obtain and maintain necessary certifications.
·        Maintain current NCCA accredited Personal Training certification (ie. ACE, ACSM, NASM) and current CPR/AED Certification. First Aid certification required within 3 months of hire
·        Attend department-wide and program specific trainings ongoing throughout their time of employment
