University of Rhode Island Economic Opportunity & Mobility AmeriCorps*VISTA
Summary: The University of Rhode Island Economic Opportunity & Mobility AmeriCorps*VISTA will support programs that serve low-income students across our campus. Beginning with a year-one mapping project, the AmeriCorps*VISTA will look to understand the current population of low-income students, particularly those from underserved communities and those impacted by the pandemic. From there, they will assess the existence and use of programs and resources to support these students, create a sustainable Community Work-Study program that can both meet the needs of the low-income community populations while also building new partnerships for low-income students to gain financial support and experience hands-on career preparation, and increase access to resources to support low-income student success.
